Liebherr Maritime Cranes has delivered four Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes to Marport, which operates the third largest container terminal in Türkiye. The terminal is located on the European side of the Bosphorus, approximately 20 km from Istanbul, within the Ambarli Port Facility, and has a handling capacity of 2.3 million TEU.

The cranes, ordered last year, have a 73m outreach, 65t SWL under the spreader, a lifting height of 54m, and a backreach of 15m. The cranes from the series were transported by barge from Ceyport, where they were assembled, to their final destination at the port.

Marport confirmed on social media that all four STS cranes were delivered to the terminal last week, making it the first terminal Türkiye to offer 14 STS cranes. Marport’s journey began in 1996 when it started as “Limar” at the Ambarli Port Complex. As Turkey’s container volumes grew, the need to expand field and berth capacity became evident. In 2001, Arkas and MSC’s TIL investment acquired Armaport and established Marport Liman İşletmeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Marport). Since its inception, Marport has expanded its facilities, which now include seven berths spanning 1.6 kilometres and covering an area of 530,000 m². Based on the company’s information, Marport has a 12% market share nationally and 32% in the Marmara region. The terminal has a fleet of 10 (+4 recently delivered) STS cranes, 41 RTGs, and 102 terminal trucks.
