Container production reaches record level

A record number of containers were manufactured in 2021 as trade growth continued and severe levels of congestion across supply chains meant ocean carriers needed more equipment in their pools to move the same volume of cargo. On average, containers took an estimated 20% longer to complete their trips last year than prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
