Zero emissions struggle
NewsTerminal operators in LA and Long Beach face challenges in meeting the 2030 zero-emissions goal, with slow progress on replacing diesel-powered equipment.
Taylor Machine works is adding a reach stacker, designated XHRS-1000, capable of handling a 4-deep/3-across barge stow with a maximum SWL of 45 tonnes
The new XHRS-1000 is purpose-built to handle containers in the unique lift situations that barge applications present, said Taylor.
“I am excited to reveal our newest addition to our line of over 100 models of Taylor material handling equipment,” said Hal Nowell, Director of Sales of Taylor Machine Works. “We listen to our customers and, as a result, we are now offering the new XHRS-1000 that is specifically designed to take care of our inland rivers and waterway customers and their needs.”
Although the XHR-1000 has a 360-in (9.144m) wheelbase, it also features hydraulic stabilizer jacks. It has negative lift capability of 71-ins below grade to the tip of twistlocks. With stabilizers enaged in barge Mode, it is designed to stack 99,000 lbs (45 tonnes) containers 4-high in the first row, 84,700 lbs 4-high in the second row and 72,600 lbs 4-high in the third row.
The power train comprises a Volvo 12.8-litre Tier 4 engine and a Dana TE-30 powershift transmission with a Kessler D-111W HD drive axle
“This purpose-built reach stacker is well suited to tackle all inland waterway barge applications as well as any other heavy-duty negative lift application that should arise,” said the company.
The new model, like all Taylor products, is backed by Sudden Service, Inc and its specially trained personnel, along with Taylor’s dedicated team of authorized dealers across the United States and abroad.
