SeaRoad orders first LNG ro-ro from FSG

Tasmania-based SeaRoad Holdings has ordered the world’s first LNG-fuelled pure freight ro-ro vessel from Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft in Germany.

The 181.52m vessel is due to join SeaRoad Shipping’s overnight Bass Strait service between Melbourne and Devonport in late 2016, replacing the 1990-built, 119m SEAROAD MERSEY. In due course, a sistership will replace the 149m SEAROAD TAMAR, which will meanwhile be life-extended.
