The production of standard dry freight boxes has come to a virtual halt in China as the global economic slowdown has seen orders dry up in the fourth quarter.

Early this month, China International Marine Containers (CIMC), the world’s largest container manufacturer, confirmed to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange that it has suspended all standard box production due to lack of demand.
