Foundation stone laid for Vadhavan port project
NewsThe foundation stone for the US$ 9.14 billion Vadhavan port project was laid today, aiming to be India’s largest port and among the top 10 globally.
The concession for the Rs20 bill (US$412 mill) Gangavaram port project near Visakhapatanam (Vizag) port in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (see WorldCargo News April 2002, p7) is reported to have been won by a DVS Raju-led consortium that includes Dubai Ports International, Malaysia’s Westport and Singapore’s Jurong Port.
