Duisport takes stake in CargoBeamer

An innovative rail-based landbridge service down the spine of France is to double frequency on the back of demand from road operators.

The European Commission approved €9.3 million in French State aid for developing freight terminals in Calais (€6.3m) and Sète (€3m).

The project aims to conduct wagon inspections in under 60 minutes, compared to the current process that can take several hours, by using advanced sensors, AI, and digital document handling.

CargoBeamer has secured €140m in Series B funding from public and private investors to expand semi-trailer handling terminals in Germany and Italy.
