The latest phase of the programme of transport sector improvements planned for Namibia is approaching completion.

In an effort to boost the use of the port of Walvis Bay by companies based in neighbouring states, rail operator TransNamib, the Namibian Port Authority (Namport), the Namibian government and other stakeholders are investing in new port facilities and road and rail links in order to encourage trade. TransNamib is now seeking to improve rail services by purchasing rolling stock from China.
