North American railroads have been making substantial investments in track, infrastructure and rolling stock over the past year to improve traffic flow following last year’s congestion problems. However, Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) lines report that although containers are moving more smoothly through port gateways compared with the gridlock seen during 2004, intermodal delays of up to a week in getting containers delivered to US customers are commonplace.
