Last year Intercontainer-Interfrigo (ICF), the pan-European intermodal rail operator, decided to cut several shuttle services on Western European routes, which have failed to fulfil the required profitability criteria, namely those linking Belgium with Italy, Spain and France.

The services were introduced only last winter as part of a new system aimed at reducing costs. A further 40 jobs are going at ICF’s Basle headquarters as a result of the downsizing.
