Kazakhstan plans new China-Russia transit route
NewsKazakhstan is developing a new trade route from China to Russia via the Irtysh River, with a port and railway planned, aiming for completion by 2026.
The trial shipment in March of containerised Hyundai automotive parts from Korea to the TagAZ car assembly plant near the Port of Taganrog on Russia’s Sea of Azov using the rail landbridge from Vostochniy (see WorldCargo News April 2005, p15) proved a success and has been followed by regular shipments.
