Intermodal rail gets taken for granted

The European Commission has signalled its approval of the “company neutral revenue support scheme” (CNG). This has been devised by the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), with the aim of boosting domestic (including maritime) rail intermodal freight. These are troubled times for the SRA and its CEO Richard Bowker, as yet another review of the rail industry has been ordered by the government. But could the CNG scheme be “good news” for all?
