Fabrizio Palenzona, president of FAI, the Italian road transport federation, has called on the government to set up a strategic Transport Authority to tackle the problems of transport infrastructure and promote new logistic systems, in co-operation with the industry and regional government organs. At present, says Palenzona, transport makes up more than 20 percent of total Italian industrial costs.
