Siemens Transportation Systems Rail Automation (STSRA), based in Braunschweig, has come up with the “Cargo Mover” design, a driverless, rail-based alternative aimed at short- and medium-haul distribution. This massive haulage market is dominated by trucking, but modal shift will be vital to avoid traffic gridlock.
