The troubled “Iron Rhine” project has been further undermined by the European Parliament’s Transport Committee, which has come out against adding it to the list of Trans-European Networks (TENs) . The Dutch and Belgian transport ministers, T Netelenbos and I Durant, had tabled the reactivation of the Iron Rhine as part of the TEN framework in order to obtain EU financial support, worth about 10 percent of the cost.
