At a time when protection and indemnity mutual insurance clubs are being successful in seeing off their fixed-premium competitors, in a surprise move the TT Club – the premier provider of liability and equipment insurance to transport operators – has decided to change to a fixed-price facility.

The club itself is not demutualising and the directors have confirmed it will remain a mutual organisation owned and controlled by its membership. However, it has been reviewing its strategic options since October 2000, and has now focused on certainty of cost.
