Oman will tender, later this year, for the construction of its first rail line and for the subsequent operation and maintenance of the planned network. Construction will commence in 2016 with completion scheduled for 2018. Oman’s system will connect with the network being built in the UAE by Etihad Rail and ultimately with all countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
