Getma loses Conakry concession

French prosecutors are investigating port terminal concessions won by Bolloré Group in Lomé in Togo and Conakry in Guinea in 2010 and 2011 respectively for Bolloré Africa Logistics

The Paris-based Bolloré Group has restructured and grouped all of its freight logistics, port management and energy activities, comprising SDV, SAGA, BLP, Bolloré Africa Logistics (BAL) and Bolloré Energie (BE), under a single entity.

The governments of Ethiopia and Somaliland have entered into an agreement that will result in some of the former country’s imports and exports being routed through the port of Berbera. Currently, most of Ethiopia’s maritime trade is processed over Djibouti, but congestion has resulted in serious delays and much higher shipment costs.

Bolloré Africa Logistics (BAL) looks set to win a concession to operate four ports in Cape Verde after it was announced that it was the only company to reach the end of the tender process. The government of Cape Verde has long planned to transfer management of the country’s main ports to a private sector operator, but the process has been repeatedly delayed.

Ports in West Africa face tremendous pressure from rapid ly rising trade volumes, but existing facilities are being upgraded and new ports are under development to support bigger ship calls.

Geftarail has gone to court to block the development of the new railway between Bénin and Niger by Bolloré Africa Logistics
