Dragados secures Texan port deal

Indian media and financial press are abuzz with the news that ZPMC has been denied security clearance to supply six STS cranes and 20 RTGs to Gammon Infrastructure Projects for its new Indira Container Terminal (ICT) at India’s Mumbai port.

Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd (GIPL) says the opening of its offshore container terminal at India’s Mumbai port has been put back to the end of next year.

Rafael Aznar, president of Valencia Port Authority (APV), has stated that an international operator will be preferred for the new northward extension of the port.

The port industry in Spain is in a kind of collective suspense because of the continuing uncertainty over the takeover of Dragados-SPL, the country’s biggest container handler, by JP Morgan.

India’s Gammon Infrastructure Projects has signed an agreement with Dragados SPL to buy 24% of the Spanish company’s interest in Indira Container Terminal Pvt Ltd (ICT), currently a 50:50 joint venture between the two companies.
