Automated RTGs over wireless network – Kalmar will test this in a 4G/LTE environment with industry partners Ukkoverkot and Nokia, with a view to transitioning as soon as possible to a 5G network. All trolley and hoist/lower moves over the stack are automated, gantry travel can be automated or supervised (RCO), and all truck interchanges are supervised. Whether 5G changes any parameters cannot yet be determined.
