HHL takes the Northern Sea Route

Hansa Heavy Lift’s HHL VALPARAISO is claimed to be the first vessel to sail open hatch through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) when it completed a move of two container cranes from GPI’s Petrolesport container/ro-ro terminal in St Petersburg to its container terminal in Vostochny. The voyage was also the first for a shipment of STS container cranes via the NSR. The vessel was chartered by Russian port equipment manufacturer and maintenance company SMM, which acted as project manager for Global Port
