South Korea’s two leading shipping companies are using a variety of fiscal tools and are selling assets as they seek to survive current strong fiscal headwinds in the container shipping industry. Ultimately, Hanjin Shipping Company and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) – the world’s 9th and 16th largest liner companies, respectively – might merge together.
