There is a growing feeling that 2016 will be the year that finally sees significant consolidation taking place in the container liner shipping industry, and not before time, many analysts will argue. But while in the longer term such mergers and acquisitions might result in better financial returns and improved levels of stability, initially the upheaval and uncertainty will be huge.
