The Asia/Europe trade is proving to be one of the most challenging in the world for liner shipping companies this year. The slump in demand has been a major factor, with data published by Container Trades Statistics showing that up to the end of July, box traffic had declined almost 5% to 8.6M TEU. In the corresponding period of 2014, 9M TEU had been shipped.
