YMCL goes modular

The UK’s sole surviving container manufacturer, Yorkshire Marine Containers Ltd (YMCL) has been rescued after a subsidiary of the Catfoss Group acquired the rights and assets of the Yorkshire-based company from the administrators.

As reported in the December 2009 issue of WorldCargo News (p16), YMCL was placed into administration last November after the effects of the global recession had seen a significant drop in orders. Most of the workforce, which had been on a two-day working week since September 2009, had been laid off, with just a skeleton staff remaining.
