Tank cleaning and repair depot operators are the unsung heroes of the global tank container industry. They have the unenviable task of servicing tanks in a competitive, time-sensitive marketplace ruled by a set of safety and environmental protection standards that are becoming increasingly stringent.
Most service depots in the US and Europe report brisk business levels for the first half of 2004, with more tanks per month being cleaned and repaired than was achieved during the same period last year. The strengthening performance of the global chemical industry is pushing tank fleet utilisation rates to the highest levels experienced in six years. Demand for modern, 24,000 and 26,000 litre tank containers is particularly strong.
