Largest reefer enters service

News-in-print

The 4100 TEU p&o nedlloyd remuera recently made her maiden call at Auckland. Built by Samsung, the new vessel has an LOA of 281m, draught of 12.5m, service speed of 23.5 knots and is equipped with 1300 reefer plugs, making her the largest reefer containership afloat.

The remurera is the first of 10 new Albatross class vessels that P&ON (seven vessels) and CP Ships (three vessels) are phasing into their Australasian services. As previously reported, the new vessels are part of P&ON’s move to replace blown-air containers currently used in the Europe/USA-Australasia trades with integral reefers. The first 750 integrals from P&ON’s massive order for 14,500 units booked with CIMC were off-loaded at NZ ports on remuera’s maiden calls.
