A recent judgement in Las Palmas has overturned rulings made on 30 November 1999 and 14 January 2000, which specifically prohibited any further infill work to continue in the Port of La Luz until the Environment Ministry had undertaken a full environmental impact study on the effects of the work.

Consultations with the Ministry, which took eight months to conclude, resulted in observations that, because the infill work was being undertaken within the confines of the port, there was no environmental case to answer. APLP has now decided to take legal action of its own, claiming that the eight-month stoppage has resulted in additional costs for which it is not legally responsible.
