Ravas launches high-accuracy fork mounted scales for counterbalanced trucks and reach trucks
Installed on a 2.5T lift truck the RCS Hy-Q shows the weight on the forks in 2 kg increments. The display in the lift truck cabin also shows a load bar with a colour system for indicating how much of the lifting capacity of the truck is used. Green means safe, yellow means close to 100% lifting capacity, and red means overload.
The load is weighed both up and down, as Ravas explains: “the load is lifted, and then lowered past two sensors on the mast within a predefined speed bandwidth. Weighing up and down averages out influences from asymmetrical friction in the mast, as may happen with eccentric load center points. Weighing up and down makes RCS Hy-Q more accurate and suitable for use in combination with (paper)roll clamps and side shifters or fork positioners”.
The RCS Hy-Q has a dedicated, full colour graphic display that shows the weight in a blue field. If the load was lifted or lowered too fast or too slow for an accurate read, this field is red. The actual lifting / lowering speed is shown in cm / sec in the bottom right corner of the display.
For installation, the system not require a manifold block or return line to the hydraulic tank of the truck, instead using a pressure sensor installed on a hydraulic lead via a T-piece. “This makes the installation of the RCS Hy-Q easy and cost efficient. It also makes the system safer to use: an uncommanded descent of the forks because of a stuck valve is not possible” said Ravas.
