Longer trailers make headway

Articulated rigs with an loa of 17.9m using 14.92m long trailers, such as the Kögel Euro Trailer (formerly known as BigMAXX),
are to be allowed in two German states, Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) and Baden-Württemberg, which up to now have been opposed to anything over the existing Euro norms of 16.5m for artics and 18.75m for road trains

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will supply €12.6M equity type financing in the form of a senior secured loan coupled with a profit-sharing mechanism to finance the construction of three CargoBeamer terminals for non-craneable trailers in Calais (WorldCargo News, August 2018, p12), Kaldenkirchen and Domodossola. They should all be linked by 2022.
