Another year, another record. Last year’s record of 186 ship-to-shore cranes (WorldCargo News, July 2000, pp22-24) has been topped. This year our survey shows 199 ship-to-shore gantries. This is currently a >US$1 bill/year industry. Associated civil works, ongoing supplies of spare parts, sales of older cranes etc will add many hundreds of millions more…
