Portek out of Italy deal

The Singapore-based port operator and engineering company is increasing its stake in the Indonesian ports industry


Portek Systems & Equipment and TEC Container have signed an agency agreement covering parts of the Asian market.

Singapore-based port engineering and operating company, Portek Systems & Equipment Pte Ltd, part of Mitsui & Co of Japan, has signed an agreement with Germany’s Paul Vahle GmbH & Co KG, aimed at leveraging their knowhow and expertise to market Vahle products and systems in South East Asia.

Following an RFP process, the Port of the Americas Authority in Puerto Rico has selected Portek International Pte Ltd, part of Mitsui Group, to develop and operate the container terminal at Ponce, initially for three years. According to the Commonwealth’s Department of Economic Development & Commerce (DDEC), the contract should be finalised by the end of April.

Portek Systems & Equipment, the main engineering arm of Portek International, has recently completed the relocation of a batch of fully erect STS container gantry cranes and RTGs from Busan to Laem Chabang. The entire project from design, site execution to commissioning took around 100 days.

Another new mobile harbour crane has been acquired for Portek’s operations in Port d’Owendo and Port Gentil
