China likely to discontinue scrap metal imports by end of this year

The import of scrap metal into China could stop at the end of 2020. Such a move would have significant consequences for container shipping lines as this cargo is hugely important for filling boxes on return voyages to Asia from many regions of the world, including North America, Europe and Africa.
