Colombia’s new port

A new port is to be developed in the Gulf of Darien, north-west Colombia. Located at Antioquía, which is close to the city of Turbo (Urabá province) and the important banana plantations in this part of Colombia, its main objective is to improve the region’s maritime transport infrastructure and expand the cold chain options for fruit growers/exporters based in the region. Many existing ports have severe draught restrictions and instances of cargo damage are high.
