Remote reefer monitoring for Thessaloniki
NewsThe Port of Thessaloniki is installing remote reefer monitoring technology from RTE.
US based Refrigerated Transport Electronics Inc (RTE) has completed the installation of its GRASP RRCE Reefer Monitoring System at San Antonio Terminal International (STI) in Chile, part of the SSA Group. The system covers 2,348 reefer plugs using RTE’s JBox and 236 RRCET hardware platforms.
GRASP is integrated with the TOS, in this case an inhouse system called Torpedo. This includes functionality for managing plugging and unplugging, with a system for following up disconnect commands from the TOS with an alarm if a container is not unplugged within a certain amount of time.
RTE is now installing GRASP at the reefer area under MIT Panama’s (also part of the SSA Group) new automated stacking cranes. MIT has used RTE’s PCT (Powerline Cable Transmission)
system since 2005. Systems covering a total of 1,256 plugs are also under installation at four HPH sites in Mexico.
