Although nominated by the Tasmanian government-owned TasPorts as the preferred growth centre for the state’s container trade, in recent months Bell Bay has seen the departure of the Triple A consortium’s weekly South East Asia service – Tasmania’s sole remaining international direct call – and the failure of Agility Shipping’s short-lived Bell Bay-Melbourne feeder service.
