Acerinox acquires Columbus Stainless

Acerinox, the Spanish stainless steel producer, has acquired 64 per cent of the shares of Columbus Stainless of South Africa from BHP Billiton, Anglo American and the South African Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) for some US$220 mill in shares. Columbus Stainless provides the great majority of the stainless steel used in the manufacture of tank containers in South Africa.
