Damietta Port Authority (DPA) in Egypt has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with China Harbour Engineering Company for the development of a second container handling facility in the port. The deal, which was signed in early October, calls for construction work on the new 2,225m quay line and 700,000 m2 of yard area to be completed in two years. The access channel and alongside berthing depths will be dredged 17m, with DPA keen for the new terminal to handle extra-regional transhipment
