Peak shipowner body Shipping Australia Ltd (SAL) has called for a major rethink of the Port of Melbourne Corporation (POMC)’s plans to extend East and West Swanson Dock, saying the likely influx of 4,000 TEU ships after channel deepening may render the facilities inadequate.
