German wire rope supplier Teufelberger is building a new €38M production facility in Stralsund, Germany.
The company currently manufactures wire rope at plants in Wels and St. Aegyd (Austria) but needs to expand to meet market demand, particularly for larger and heavier products.
The Stralsund location was chosen for its direct access to the Baltic Sea, and because it is in an area that has a long-standing tradition in metal processing. The new factory will have an area of 14,000 m² and will be set up to manufacture steel wire ropes in sections weighing up to several hundred tonnes.
Teufelberger supplies ropes for STS and mobile harbour cranes, yard gantry cranes and straddle carriers. Its products include a “rotation resistant” product line called Evolution TK 16, and the 6 and 8 stranded wire rope lines Evolution QS 816 V, Evolution Q 8 and Perfection Q 810 V, using its Superfill and Pastfill technology to provide high breaking strength.
