Klang cuts discount

Despite strong protests from shipping lines (see WorldCargo News August 2001 (p8), Malaysia’s Port Klang has withdrawn the 50 per cent discount for transhipment boxes, which was introduced in 1995.

The port’s two terminal operators – Westport and Northport – restored rates for transhipment boxes to M$140 (US$47) per TEU and M$210 (US$70.5) per FEU from August 15.
