While the strike on the US East and Gulf Coast has ended, Xeneta’s Peter Sand warns that “it is only a tentative agreement, and automation at ports will remain a major stumbling block.” 

Ports announce reopening after the ILA and USMX reached a tentative wage deal, ending the strike that had disrupted operations.

Container shipping companies, including CMA CGM, Ocean Network Express (ONE), and COSCO, are invoking force majeure due to the impacts of ongoing ILA strike.

USMX calls ILA to return to negotiations to end the ongoing strike, rejects any preconditions for resuming talks.

The ILA plans for the demonstrations to continue around the clock, 24/7, until USMX meets its demands.

“USMX owns this strike now,” said ILA President Daggett. “They now must meet our demands for this strike to end.”
