Konecranes and Liebherr have received major orders for container handling equipment from Slovenia’s biggest port operator

Over the next five years, Luka Koper's investment in port development and expansion will amount to €235M, being financed from own resources and loans from commercial banks and the EIB.

Konecranes is an existing supplier to the port for STS cranes (the other is Liebherr) and has also supplied its RTGs, gantry grab unloaders and reach stackers. The new order for Konecranes comprises two RMGs for a much expanded IY and seven E-RTGs, Koper's first investment in all-electric RTGs. The new equipment is slated for delivery at the end of 2016.

The port has now confirmed to WorldCargo News that Liebherr will be supplying the two news STS cranes. The port has ordered two cranes capable of working ships stacking 24-wide and 11-high on deck. Liebherr supplied the port's existing four post-Panamax cranes, which can work ships up to 8000 TEU.
