The Supervisory Board of Hamburg Hafen- und Logistik AG (HHLA), part of Hafen Hamburg has appointed Frau Angela Titzrath to take over as Chairman of the Management Board from Klaus-Dieter Peters, when the latter retires on 1st January next year.
Frau Titzrath studied Economics and then Roman Philology in the universities of Bochum, Perugia and Coimbra. She was Member of the Board of Deutsche Post DHL responsible for Human Resources before leaving for personal reasons in 2014. Before that she held several management positions in Daimler AG, the last one as a member of the management of EvoBus in charge of marketing and sales. She was also a member of the Daimler Bus Board.
Hamburg Senator Frank Horch welcomed the appointment: “Angela Titzrath is an experienced leader in management and ideally meets the requirements of an international acting logistics group. I am looking forward to working with her and appreciate that the city, as the majority shareholder, managed to fill this key position for the Port of Hamburg with a person of her calibre."
Angela Titzrath takes over at HHLA at a difficult time, with the group suffering from declining volumes and revenues. Industry insiders say she will have to broaden the group’s strategy and find new business activities. With shiping companies reorganising their alliances and port rotations, it will be a challenging task.
