First batch of eRTGs arrives in Damietta
NewsDamietta Alliance Container Terminals welcomes arrival of first 10 electrified RTG cranes.
In a matter of just a few days, another UK-based trucking company has been purchased by a European based container liner shipping company.
This time the company being acquired is ATL Haulage Contractors (ATL), headquartered in London Gateway and with an office and depot in Southampton, and the buyer is Hamburg-based Hapag-Lloyd. But whereas CMA CGM’s purchase of Wincanton, via its supply chain solutions company CEVA, is designed to expand its logistics division and will likely result in the company being fully integrated into CEVA, Hapag-Lloyd’s motive and strategy for the company is very different.
“The acquisition of ATL, and working together with our other existing hauliers, enables us to deliver on our commitment to provide our customers with a first-class multimodal service,” said Hapag-Lloyd in a statement.
“ATL has a proven market expertise and is a trusted logistics partner in the UK inland market with a broad digital expertise in their field. ATL will remain an independent company and brand and will continue to be run by the existing management team serving all its customers in line with their existing contractual agreements.”
ATL operates a fleet of over 200 trucks, with 120 owned units and over 100 available to the company through its network of subcontractors. All of the units meet Euro 6 emissions standards. In addition, ATL owns in excess of 250 skeletal, sliding, genset and multi-function trailers.
