UK ports operator PD Teesport has called on the government to recognise the importance of building new deepsea container port capacity in northern England. Although there are proposals in relation to both Hull and Liverpool, Teesport believes that its own scheme to create a 1.5 mill TEU/year capacity deep water riverside facility in two phases, requiring an investment of up to £300 mill, is the best option.
