The ports of Tallinn and Milford Haven have new CEOs, and the port of Aalborg has a new Chairman; Antwerp man to focus on green hydrogen projects; new director for NY/NJ Shipping Association; MyCrane recruits more from Mammoet; change at Liebherr USA; new appointments for Geodis Germany and Seko Logistics

Andrus Ait has been chosen by the Supervisory Board of Tallinna Sadam AS (Port of Tallinn) as a new member of the Management Board, and CFO. He joins the port from his current position as CEO of Riigi Kinnisvara AS where he worked since 2005.

 

The Port of Milford Haven, the UK’s largest energy port, in South West Wales, has appointed Tom Sawyer as its new CEO as of the end of April this year, when Andy Jones steps down from the role, as previously disclosed. Sawyer’s 35 year career to date includes posts on organisations spanning defence, security, intelligence, and technology. 

 

Tom Verlinden, who has been working for the port of Antwerp as mobility manager, has joined WaterstofNet as project manager for carbon neutrality and sustainable hydrogen projects in port-related businesses. He believes that Europe we will have to import large quantities of green hydrogen from countries such as Chile, Namibia and Australia. An energy technology specialist, Verlinden started with Atlas Copco in 1995 followed by posts at BASF in Zandvliet.

Stephen Lyman

Elizabeth, NJ, USA: The Maritime Association of the Port of New York/ New Jersey has appointed Stephen Lyman as Executive Director. He replaces Edward J Kelly, who has retired after 18 years in the position. The announcement was made by Michael J DiVirgilio, the association’s President. Lyman most recently was Commercial Associate Director at the Journal of Commerce. Previously, he served as the Port Newark Associate Director of the New York-based Seamen’s Church Institute, which advocates for the personal, professional, and spiritual well-being of merchant mariners and seafarers around the world.

 

Lasse Frimand Jensen has been appointed new chairman of the Board of Port of Aalborg A/S. He replaces Thomas Kastrup-Larsen, the Mayor of Aalborg Municipality, who has been Board chairman for the past eight years.

 

Dubai, UAE: MyCrane, the digital platform for the search and selection of cranes, has strengthened its team with the appointment of four experienced executives: Erik Altena is Head of Strategic Development, from 1 February; Alan Faulds has joined as Managing Director for the UAE and Oman; Igor Dobrovolskiy is Managing Director for Russia; and Alexander Kouklev is Business Development Director for the Far East of Russia and Asia-Pacific (APAC). These appointments are all made directly from or associated with Mammoet, reflecting the background of MyCrane’s founder Andrei Geikalo.

 

 

Dr Tim Gerhardt, an experienced business executive within the Liebherr Group, has been appointed Joint Managing Director of Liebherr USA Co. Responsible for operations, he will work with Kai Friedrich, JMD, and also act a Divisional Director for the construction equipment segment in Newport News, VA. He succeeds Dr Torben Reher who has been with Liebherr USA Co since it was established 2016 and is now returning to Germany.

Toyota Material Handling UK has appointed Stuart Reilly to the position of Rental & Used Director. With more than three decades’ experience of the materials handling industry, Reilly has been with TMHUK for over 20 years, during which time he has held leadership positions within the company’s after sales, rental and hand pallet truck departments. He is also a former general manager of Toyota’s operation in Scotland.

 

Antje Lochmann has been appointed Managing Director of Geodis’ Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics activities in Germany, bringing the two parts under one roof.  Lochmann has many years of experience in the logistics industry and within Geodis, which she joined in 2011, holding various positions in sales, marketing, key accounts and strategic sales planning. At 43, she is also one of the youngest senior managers to be promoted within Geodis’ leadership programme. 

 

Chicago, IL, USA: Seko Logistics has promoted Dr Charl L Dalton to the post of Chief Legal Officer and Chief of Staff. She joined Seko Logistics in 2014 as Director, Legal, following five years as Corporate Counsel at NNR Global Logistics.
