House Committee report says ZPMC poses risk to US security
NewsHouse Committee reports says ZPMC could serve as “a Trojan horse capable of helping the CCP and the PRC military exploit and manipulate US maritime equipment and technology.”
Acciaierie d’Italia has ordered four LPS 800 cranes, Liebherr’s most powerful rail portal-mounted cranes to date, based on the LHM 800, the world’s biggest mobile harbour crane. The Italian steel maker is the first customer for the all-electric LPS 800
The cranes will also have Liebherr hybrid system Pactronic installed, which gives the crane additional power when needed. They will be provided with Liebherr Smartgrip intelligent grabbing technology.
“Our unique technical solutions around this project made the difference,” said Andreas Müller, Liebherr Sales Director for mobile harbour cranes. “These four gigantic portal cranes run 100% electrically and thus enable emission-free material handling. Acciaierie d’Italia also secures unrivalled handling performance in the MHC market with the four LPS 800s. We are looking forward to this exciting partnership.”
Currently over 20 LHM 800s are in use with various customers worldwide, supplied in container handling, bulk handling and very heavy lift configurations. The LPS rail portal variant gives high long travel speed, dispenses with time-consuming propping and creates space under the crane for rail cars and trucks.
“Acciaierie d’Italia is a major player in the European steel business. We are proud that they have chosen Liebherr, the market leader in mobile harbour crane technology, said Matteo Bilotti, Managing Director of Mac Port Group, Liebherr’s distributor and service partner in Italy. “With Mac Port Group they have a competent and local contact on site. We will support them in all service matters and ensure maximum availability of the equipment.”
Acciaierie d’Italia’s new cranes have a 4-rope configuration with a maximum lifting capacity of up to 144 tonnes under hook. The grab curve has not been reported, but Liebherr says handling rates of 2000 tph can be achieved (iron ore).
To prepare the steelworks’ crane operators and the technical staff in the period until delivery, various training options are currently being discussed. Liebherr’s own LiSIM simulator will certainly be used in the process. Technical service training at the maritime headquarters in Rostock, Germany, is also available.
The delivery schedule for the four new cranes has not been reported.
