Cranes for LSCT

News-in-print

Contship Italia has provided information on how it will deploy cranes at its flagship gateway terminal, LSCT La Spezia

As previously reported, LSCT recently took delivery of two practically unique cranes from OMGMGM with a 23-wide (62m) outreach and a 20m rail gauge.

Final ‘soft’ operating tests with the new cranes took place in mid-July, and the cranes were then moved by SPMTs to their final position on the quay. Further operating tests on 10,000 TEU ships took place during the rest of July.

With the new cranes, SCT will have 11 units. Fornelli Pier East will have five cranes (2x 23-wide and 3x 20-wide) and Fornelli Pier West will have six cranes (4x 20-wide and 2x 18- wide). This ensures that LSCT can efficiently work two 150,000 grt ULCCs simultaneously.
