New CEO appointed for MSC’s TIL arm; new CEO at MSC Gate Bremerhaven; Michail Stahlhut to switch from SBB Cargo International to one of its stakeholders, Hupac; Inke Onnen-Lübben to step down from Lower Saxony ports; Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen to appoint new MD

MSC Group has appointed Ammar Kanaan as Chief Executive Officer of its cargo container terminals arm, Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), effective 9th April 2018. Ammar Kanaan is the founder and Chairman of International Port Management, with over 30 years’ experience in the transport and port sectors. He has built companies focused on port management, transport engineering and transport consulting and also led the development and operations of MSC’s joint venture terminal in King Abdullah Port, Saudi Arabia. He will replace Vikram Sharma, who will retire as CEO on 30th March.

 

Friedrich Stuhrmann has been appointed new managing director of MSC Gate Bremerhaven GmbH & Co. KG, part of Eurogate Group. He succeeds Ferdinand Möhring, who is taking on new tasks within Eurogate stakeholder BLG Logistics. Friedrich Stuhrmann is 36 years old and has been with Eurogate for over 10 years. Since January 2011, he has been commercial director and authorised signatory of Eurogate Container Terminal Bremerhaven. Mr Stuhrmann has also played a leading role in building up Eurogate’s activities in the field of wind energy logistics. Mr Möhring was thanked for his excellent work for MSC Gate during the past year.

 

Inke Onnen-Lübben

Mrs Inke Onnen-Lübben is stepping down at the end of April this year from her post as Managing Director of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH, the marketing organisation of the seaports of the German land of Lower Saxony, to pursue a new career outside the port industry. Karsten Dirks, Chairman of the Advisory Board, praised he contribuition over the past 12 years and reported that recruitment firm Dr Schwerdtfeger in Emstek has been hired to find a replacement.

 

Rainer Schäfer and Ulrich Gross are leaving their posts as Joint Managing Directors of Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen GmbH &Co KG (NDH) in April 2018. The Advisory Board is believed to be considering a former employee of NDH as a sole successor. This is because the operations side of the business is now handled by Rhein-Cargo, a joint venture between NDH and the ports of the Güterverkehr Köln AG (NGK). Messrs Schäfer and Gross are responsible for NDH’s record profit of €38M last year.

Michail Stahlhut, the CEO of SBB Cargo International AG, will join intermodal transport operator Hupac, one of its stakeholders in August 2018, as CEO of Hupac Intermodal As recently reported, Hupac is preparing for a multi-stage change in its leadership. After a two-year transitional phase, the Board of Directors will also transfer the management of the parent company Hupac Ltd to him. Beni Kunz (60), managing director of Hupac Intermodal Ltd and Hupac Ltd since 2001, will continue to head Hupac Ltd for another two years from this August. It is also foreseen that subsequently he will support the company’s strategic projects as a member of the Board of Directors.

 

Hoppe Marine Gmbh, the Hamburg-based measuring and motion control systems specialist, has appointed Dr Wilfred Rachan as CEO of a newly-created sales and service company, Hoppe Singapore Pte Ltd, aimed at enhancing the existing Hoppe network in China and South Korea. He will lead a team of service engineers and administration staff.

 

Paul McLaughlin has been appointed as the new Business Development & Engagement Director at RSSB, the UK rail engineering company, Paul was most recently the Chief Executive at the Building Engineering Services Association.

 

Mott MacDonald has appointed Alan Bain as a project principal in its integrated transport team in Birmingham, UK. Alan Bain will lead the consultancy’s surface access teams across the city and region, as well as acting as client account leader for Transport for West Midlands. He has 25 years’ experience in transport planning, providing feasibility, planning and design advice to both public and private sector clients and joins Mott MacDonald from SYSTRA.
